Amagami SS+ plus Episode 8

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. It seems like each arc in Amagami SS+ plus is better than the last. A couple interesting themes were played out in this particular episode which I don't think is very commonly

Picking up from where the previous episode left off, Junichi and Kaoru find themselves alone in the service plaza after missing the bus. Shortly after, a truck just happens to pull up, offering to drive them to the nearest place to spend the night, which, to Junichi's delight, just happened to be a hot spring inn. Of course, Amagami SS has never skimped on fanservice, and neither should the second season. Although nothing was explicitly shown, it seems like both Junichi and Kaoru "accidentally" bared it all for each other to see, with some rather amusing expressions. One little gripe I have with this particular scene is how one single little old lady is capable of producing such scrumptious food, unless she has some kind of team of ninjas, which wouldn't surprise me at all.

On the way to the inn, Junichi blamed Kaoru on demanding to eat the eel and tea set, causing their delay. This caused the two to breakout in argument. Call me strange, but this is quite possibly one of the best moments in the entire show. One important aspect of relationships many people overlook is how two people have their differences, which may result in conflicts and arguments. Having had my fair share of relationship experience, I'm well aware of how arguments work, and believe me when I say they are not fun at all. Junichi arguing with Kaoru really allows us as viewers to see the realistic, down-to-earth side that comedy romance genres like Amagami SS are capable of being. Relationships aren't always fun and games, and seeing Junichi and Kaoru bicker back and forth really characterizes how deep their relationship truly is, which is ironic considering that neither of them really understand how deep their relationship is. Each argument makes a couple's bond together stronger. Overcoming hurdles in life is already challenging, but overcoming each other's hurdles together as one proves how devoted you truly are.

The bickering continues after they leave the inn the next morning. Junichi loses his coin purse and ends up blaming Kaoru, which causes him to doubt if Kaoru is actually going the correct direction at a crossroad. It's during this scene that I really felt like Junichi could use some "man the fuck up" treatment and just trust her lady like a true gentlemen. But I guess after seeing 36 episodes of Junichi in Amagami SS, it seems like this is his true nature. Mature when needed, panics easily, and childish for the rest of the time.  Putting aside all the serious matters, it's rather hilarious to see the two not realize how obvious it is for others to tell they are a couple.

The recurring blush that Kaoru kept showing was cute, but it became a little repetitive as time progressed, but it's a trivial matter, especially for those who enjoy a blushing Kaoru. Bra-less Kaoru with a wet shirt on results in Junichi getting slapped rather forcefully, leaving a hand-print on his face. I've never been slapped before, that's probably a good thing.

I must point out that this kiss scene is hands-down the best kiss scene I've seen so far. Not only was the lip-locking scene actually shown up-close, the whole atmosphere and the way everything was presented just paved the way to a fabulous and memorable ending. It's like an ending to a Bond movie or something. There's really nothing much to say but positive things as far as the Kaoru arc goes.

The final kiss scene really topped things off for me. Kinky, hot, and cute, all mixed together, followed by the usual quirky ending where Umehara randomly comes sailing in, apparently fishing for his sushi job. Next week, Sae! Let's hope that pesky narrator is gone for good.
