Kotatsu offers a unique blend of traditional Japanese cultural festival elements, combined with the fun of an anime convention. Attendees are presented with a variety of Japanese cultural demonstrations, foods, workshops, tutorials, and general culture throughout the day. During evening hours, the convention shifts towards much more fan-based panels, events, and performances more typical of what you might find at other anime conventions. Overall, this allows everyone to have a bit of the fun, and experience many different aspects of Japanese pop culture, along with several anime-based events. This was definitely a new experience for me, since this is a very concentrated and small-scale anime convention, especially considering my usual trips to Sakura-Con and Kumoricon, large-scale conventions. I guess what Kotatsu offers is a much more intimate experience instead of a more industry-based presentation style.
Without further adieu, I present to you my excursion.
