In the previous episode, we have seen Marika succeed in her very first mission as a Pirate. How will she fare this time? Let's find out...
The Story so far...
----------------------------------------------------
The episode begins with Marika, in her pirate captain uniform, going on a recon mission for the Bentenmaru, in which her duty to the ship is to scout the Bentenmaru's latest target. Though she is successful in finding them hiding behind a large asteroid, she encounters a problem as the target's escorts begin to fire at her ship. Continuing to fly away from her assailants despite her ship experiencing damage, she tells herself to calm down repeatedly as the scene fades to white.

The scene then shifts to the school as a voice tells Marika that it is not the time to calm down. It is revealed that it is merely a dream, and that Marika is told by her friend that she had slept through homeroom. Marika also learns from her friend that the teacher let her sleep, and to come to the nurse's office as soon as she woke up.

At the nurses office, Kane and Misa talk to Marika about her failing grades, and of how she has often come to school late even though the Bentenmaru has been taking on many small jobs in order to compensate for Marika's school life. Expressing concern for the young captain, Misa tells Marika that she should drop out of school if things get too difficult. However, before she could even finish her sentence, Marika defiantly responds by saying she won't quit school. Shortly after, Kane and Misa start to contemplate about how Marika was once a model student with perfect attendance, and how it all began to change when she became the captain of the Bentenmaru.

At the Lamp House, Marika and her friend continue to work hard with their duties. When she brings up how she will redeem herself due to her not having any pirating jobs for a while, Marika is reminded about how horrible her grades are, and how she has to study. Marika replies by saying that her job with the Lamp House is also important. Before she could continue, her pocket watch started to beep. Shortly after that, Marika is whisked away by Misa.

Back at the Lamp House, Chiaki pays a visit, stating that she came merely for the parfait even though Marika's friend teased Chiaki about how she really came to visit Marika. She then asks Chiaki to come along with her after her shift at the Lamp House ends.

At the shuttle headed for the Bentenmaru, Misa debriefs Marika of a job that suddenly came up for them. Though she complains and states that they weren't supposed to have any jobs, Marika learns from Misa that they receive an up-front payment, and that there's an additional bonus. Upon hearing the terms, Marika smiles and states that they will accept the job. Misa explains that though it is the usual luxury liner job, she tells Marika that there is an added bonus, and reminds Marika to be careful.

Back at Sea of the Morningstar, Marika's friend starts talking to Chiaki, explaining how Marika's greatness is mainly because she pushes herself to the limit. She also tells Chiaki about how she learned about How Marika's motivation to work hard was to get to know her mother better. Though she states that it confused her at first, Marika's friend explains to Chiaki that she begins to understand what Marika meant when she finally met Ririka. At dusk, the two finally part ways.

Back at the Bentenmaru, Marika, having put on her Pirate Uniform, hurries to the bridge. There, she goes over the plan to attack their latest target -- the Symphony Angel -- with the other crew members once more as the ship continues to travel in hyperspace. Upon giving the signal to get to work, the Bentenmaru returns to normal space.

Getting down to business, The Bentenmaru goes about with their business of attacking the three escort ships of the Symphony Angel, while at the same time sending out a message to the ships demanding their surrender. Noticing the ships change formation, Coorie, the Bentenmaru's technical expert, proceeds to explain the change to Marika by quizzing her on why the escort ships changed formation. Putting Marika's mind at ease by explaining that even if the Bentenmaru is detected by the radar of the enemy Corbacks, Coorie explains that the onboard computers on the ships aren't fast enough to do so. Schnitzer then fires warning shots at the Corbacks, causing them to stop. However, Coorie reminds Marika that the electronic warfare is still ongoing, and another crew member states that an energy signature is rising from the three ships. It is revealed that the Corbacks are firing back at the Bentenmaru, though the shots are awkward due to the distance. Though she lets out a sigh and states that she will turn off the alarms, Marika is reprimanded by Misa, reminded that it is still an attack directed at them.

Continuing to go about with their business, The Bentenmaru continue to issue an order to surrender while firing simultaneously at the Corbacks. Finally, the Symphony Angel issues a letter of surrender, which baffles Marika, as it came before the Corbacks' letter of surrender. Marika then learns that the Corbacks fall out of battle formation, and that Coorie confirms that she has taken control of the Symphony Angel's systems. Issuing an order to Coorie to continue with the electronic warfare, Marika barks out an order for the Bentenmaru to dock in order to commence piracy. Once on board, Marika proceeds with her job of demanding the people to surrender their valuables or face dire consequences, all while she fires her gun for show.

Having finished the job, Marika relaxes once more at the captain's room. Reminding herself once more that she wanted to do both schooling and piracy, she washes the make-up off of her face, puts on her casual clothes, and begins to study. However, she gets a call from the bridge, alerting her to come dressed in uniform, much to her surprise.

Finally arriving at the bridge, Marika is informed by the crew that a stowaway managed to get on board, telling her that the stowaway wanted nothing more than to speak with the captain. She first checks in with Coorie, who tells her that the cameras picked up nothing, and that she has managed to fix the security settings. Turning to another crew member, Marika asks if the smoke bombs were used to fish out the stowaway. The crew member responds by showing the stowaway's height and weight, indicating that the stowaway is a child. Surprised at what she sees, she then issues a command to connect the bridge to the docking bay, where the stowaway is currently hiding. Upon being connected, the stowaway makes it clear that she wishes to speak to no one but Marika.

Impressions:
--------------------------------------------------
This week's episode, for the most part, is less action-packed, even though we get to see a pretty cool sequence in which the Bentenmaru engages three enemy ships in both electronic and physical warfare. The show pretty much remains consistent in their focus of Marika and her development as a person, as they show that her academic life has taken a hit as she makes her transition into her new life of piracy. Besides a continuing focus on Marika learning more about how to be a pirate, the episode also provides some lighthearted moments, such as Chiaki and Marika's friend hanging out with each other for the day. Overall, while it is not a very mind blowing episode in terms or action or plot breakthroughs, it is a pretty solid episode showing more of Marika's inexperience as a pirate. How will Marika deal with the latest problem? Find out next week, same Marika time. Same Marika channel.
