The Story so far...
------------------------------------

In the first half of the episode, the yacht club girls look at a flyer advertising a Dinghy Cup competition, which naturally excites the group, especially Ai-chan. Taking note of the excitement of the group, Lynn steps forward and asks the group about who has actual experience piloting a dinghy, revealing that Ai-chan is the only member that raises her hand. At that point, Kane, dressed in exercise gear, steps into the room, to Marika's chagrin, and declares that they will be doing training. The scene shifts to the simulator room, where Kane has Marika and the other girls fly through simulated storms in space, all while Marika angrily demands what Kane was up to. As the simulation finished, Kane gets a good handle on the girls abilities, and disappears before Marika could confront him about any shenanigans she feels he might be up to. Meanwhile, in a different part of the school, Grunhilde and two other girls work on searching past records of Hakuoh Academy's participation in the Dinghy Cup, and learn that the school had been suspended for five years due to their disregard of safety rules. The scene shifts to the Dinghy Cup committee, where a conference is being held in regards to Hakuoh Academy's participation in the Dinghy Cup once more. Seemingly threatened by Hakuoh's presence, the Chairwoman and a committee member contact Show, who then relays a message to the Bentenmaru for a job, in which they will serve as security to the Dinghy Cup, which Marika accepts. Surprised at the quick acceptance of the job, Misa asks Marika how she will be able to participate. Marika answers by sayinig that she will participate, but is unsure of whether or not they will qualify.

The second half of the episode sees Kane taking the Yacht Club out to the beach, with Marika groaning once more, wondering what kind of plan her helmsman-slash-club advisor has come up with. Kane reveals that he brought them to the beach in swimsuits because he intends to have the girls go sailboarding -- specifically a sailboard race in which the girls will sail around the buoy and back. At this point, the girls start to complain, stating that the first years have never done it, and that they've only done it a little for marine sports. However, the girls go about with it anyway, and despite a few people falling off, many of the girls, including Marika, manage to ride well on the Sailboards. Meanwhile, Kane spots Lynn and the seniors hanging about behind him, and orders them to run. As the girls round the buoy, the Bentenmaru, piloted by Misa, maneuvers close enough to the atmosphere of Sea of the Morningstar, which allows Schnitzer to fire a sonic blast that creates a huge wave, making the girls' sailboard ride rougher, along with annoying Marika even further. Kane, who expected the girls to fall off their boards due to the strength of the waves, is surprised to see the girls get better at riding. At the end of the race, Kane finally finds his three entrants -- Natalia, Grunhilde, and Ai-chan. Having a talk with Marika towards the end of the day, Marika reveals to Kane that she intended to do piracy while racing, causing Kane to chuckle somewhat at Marika. At the end of the episode, the Yacht club girls ride a shuttle to the competition as they sing the school song with glee. Meanwhile, Marika rides with the Bentenmaru to go about with their job, and with a smile, orders the ship to launch upon receiving clearance.

Impressions
-----------------------------------

Like the past couple of episodes, this episode is a mostly filler episode, or rather, a transitional episode towards what might be a final story arc that also closes out the entire series. This time, the prime focus of the episode is Ai-chan, or Ai Hoshimiya, the cute girl whose piloting skills were demonstrated well during the Yacht Club Piracy arc. Though we don't get any background about the character, the episode does show a bit more of Ai-chan, and of how her desire to pilot a ship is strong, going as far as to show her managing the mechanical aspects of the practice ships. Of course, the episode, like many other episodes in the past, continues to add to the overall story by including a segment where Kane takes the Bentenmaru's former captain, Ririka, to a bar where the shady groups hang out, revealing that Marika has been shielded from the really shady elements due to said elements making a pact to leave Marika alone, as well as the presence of a mysterious man, whose identity is known to Ririka. The segment also remembers to remind viewers of Marika's strength, as Ririka allays Kane's concerns by stating that after Marika graduates, she will be able to decide for herself. Overall, this filler-slash-transitional episode allows viewers to gain a little more insight on Ai Hoshimiya, and is a particularly funny episode, especially in some segments. How will the Yacht Club perform in the Dinghy Cup? Find out next week. Same Marika time. Same Marika Channel.
