The story so far...
----------------------------------------------
In the first half of the episode, the battle comes underway, as the Bentenmaru, along with the other pirate ships that have joined Marika's cause, enters the space where they first found the Golden Ghost Ship. Shortly after that, Quartz enters the scene, accompanied by two more Grand Crosses, to Hyakume's surprise. Meanwhile, Coorie, surrounded by keyboards, works overtime in coordinating the myriad of pirate ships in order to avoid friendly fire. Having figured out that the movement of the Grand Cross has a pattern, the Bentenmaru sends the necessary info to the other pirate ships, allowing them to eliminate the other Grand Cross ships, both of which were controlled by Quartz herself. As Marika and the pirates move to the final stage of her plan, Marika, Hyakume, and Schnitzer move to the Shangri-la, leaving command of the Bentenmaru to Misa. Quartz, clearly agitated by the loss of both decoy Grand Cross ships, starts to follow the Bentenmaru, wanting to take out Marika herself. Toward the half, this move allows Marika who is inside the Shangri-La, to board the Grand Cross, by crashing into the hull.

In the second half of the episode, aided by the various other pirate crews that joined them in the Shangri-La, Marika, Schnitzer, and Hyakume manage to finally infiltrate the bridge of the Grand Cross, cornering Quartz in the process and answering Quartz's question with an affirmation of her identity as both a pirate and a person. However, before Schnitzer can even apprehend her, Quartz manages to escape, setting the Grand Cross to self-destruct. Having won the battle, many of the pirates head home, with Marika keeping Quartz's words to heart. Meanwhile, in the Odette II, Gruier expresses disappointment with missing the pirate battle, while Jenny, who has joined the Yacht Club, orders the yacht club to head for the transport, while the graduates bring the Odette II home. As the yacht club leave the ship to move into the Parabellum, having received the task of picking them up, Jenny and Lynn having their own private moment inside the bridge of the Odette II, with Lynn promising to come back for Jenny. Meanwhile, in the Parabellum, Gruier gives her thanks to Ironbeard, revealed to be Gonzaemon, for accepting her job, which was to bring the Yacht Club home before exams. Back at the Bentenmaru, upon being asked about where she will go, Marika decides that she wants to continue being a Pirate high school student, to which the crew responds by going on an FTL jump back to Sea of the Morningstar. The final end credits roll as Marika goes on with her normal life, which includes her piracy job, as well as her job with Mami at the cafe.

Impressions:
--------------------------------------------------
With this episode being the final episode of the series, or the first season at the very least, It is a very action-packed episode. The action here is especially exciting, if for the fact that we see the pirates operate like a military platoon, rather than as independent entities with a common enemy. One of the biggest highlights of the episode is on the focus on the future, for both Marika and Chiaki, which also showcases a big contrast between the two. Chiaki, upon being asked by Kenjo, merely looks on, uncertain of what answer to give. However, Marika, upon being asked by her own crew, decides that she still wants to enjoy her youth as much as she can, knowing full well about the people that support her, especially those from behind the shadows. The ending, especially for the fight, does lend itself to the potential that a season two may be in the works. On the other hand, such open-faced endings, especially with the final villain surviving, also presents itself as conclusive, especially when it presents to the viewer that battles are never ending, that life goes on. Overall, this episode is a satisfying conclusion to the entire series, as it does cover an aspect of piracy in the show: that pirates are hired to provide a show, and are seemingly a shell of the proud warriors they were. As the show comes to an end, where will Marika go next? One can only imagine.

^ It's over ALREADY?!

You know, all you really need to know about this was that, in the end, Quartz was all talk and no action.
