The only thing Robotics;Notes has in common with Steins;Gate and ChäoS;HEAd is the semicolon. Not only has the main female lead of the show fallen victim to chuunibyou, but the whole mecha premise of the show is in fact a rather weak one that seems to be lacking in, well...just about everything (however it's worth mentioning that Nanjo Yoshino, the lead vocalist of fripSide voices the main female lead). The inclusion of the mecha theme seems like a mere afterthought, for now at least. So far, it's a boring show with a boring opening and ending sequence, with some pretty average animation. I will say that there were a few parts that did manage to make me smile a couple times, so there is the aspect of humour that might appeal to a certain crowd of viewers.

This show definitely left a bland and rather lacklustre first impression, but I guess it's worth a second shot, perhaps Robotics;Notes is just a late bloomer. There were seriously too many things missing in this first episode for me to consider this as a decent show. With that being said, for all I know things could make a 180 degree turnaround and give me an atypical kick in the ass.
